I have a thought and would like to share... Privatize SS!
I was not a big fan of privatizing Social Security for the same reason that we find ourselves in right now. We as a society found ourselves too invested in Wall Street: 401K, IRA, Roth IRA, and direct investments into the market. That trend made it impossible to have problems in Wall Street without feeling the effect in Main Street. Privatizing SS would make us more dependent on W.S. and that is not smart since we need diversify our risk.
That said, I was thinking, wouldn't it be a good idea instead of having non-stop bailouts that may or may not reverse the current trend and liquidity problems, to actually privitize SS? I was never a big fan of this idea, but wouldn’t this be the best time to do it?
- It will provide the needed cash influx to stabilize the market
- SS funds are large enough to get the job done
- At these current market prices, everyone stand to make a good gain once the market stabilizes.
I may be out of my mind, but this is something I was thinking about that might actually work.
Please feel free to chime in!
