Those pics have been floating around the web for awhile,
but worth a re-look. The alligator in the first pic was reported
to be ~13 feet, per Snopes.

One of my fave 'gator pics below; I copped it from a photo
site and I could not capture the data and have forgotten
the photographer...amazing 15mm fisheye lens shot, however.

Alligators have made a good "comeback" after being close
to extinction here in the US...

Yeah??? Why? Did the Gator kill any humans or livestock? Was it causing some danger? Why couldn't they relocate the beast?

I hate people that just kill animals for nothing...

That would have been a great mascot for the FL Gators.

Here's the Snopes on that 13 footer in the first pic...
http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/wcgator.asp

The camera angle made it appear even larger, but
legit, and from Texas, not FLA.

We have them, obviously, around our StarterShack
golf course in SW FLA. They roam from pond to pond...
a 11+ footer was captured last season from a pond
and reportedly killed. I'm told the DNR/Wildlife dept
of various states has the last word on "capture and
change location" to "kill". The danger being to kids
and about any sized pet...since they have increased
population so well, the big ones are often killed.
