Not sure if this is a good idea BUT...
There's LOTS of downsizing and resource actions taking place in the good ole USA.. While we all help each other with putting parts in cars, I'm wondering if there might be a space for a forum to do some exchanging of skills unrelated to BMWs.
For example, I'm real good at taping wallboard, installing replacement windows and just about anything related to PCs (not Apple). I'd be happy to "barter" my time for someone who might know how to do crown molding. I'm not thinking free for free, but maybe there's some kind of an exchange we could do that would be a win-win for all parties.. Sometimes I just need someone stronger than me to move furniture.. Could it work with so many of us geographically dispersed..? Am I suffering from the fumes from just filling up my car with Premium fuel..? I toss this out not to invite controversy, but because I know so many people right now who are talented craftsman, but no one has any money. Me, I work for IBM selling mainframe software, so I doubt there is much I could offer there..other than career advice, market trends I get from Gartner, etc.. But I can paint, install windows, tape, and a few other odds and ends, cat sitting, dog walking, mule spanking.. Michelle...??? Need some milking help? I can be trained, cant I? Seriously, maybe it's a way to give back in a way beyond what the board was designed originally for...or again, it may be the premium fumes. All feedback is welcome ! |
