MD, you are dead on about spending. The reason for the recently seen "deflation" is the fact that people are just not buying. The financial arenas to include supermarkets and Wal-MartNation simply don't have the pull they did for the last 6 years. Even if you gave money, most would hoard it or pay of existing debt, not buy anything new. I myself have rid house of more then one credit card, must to the disdain of the banks supporting them
