I saw that today too. It's a pretty darn good deal, especially if someone needs two large LCD's. The closest price that other retailers have for this model is about $250-$300 more. Even with the $100 shipping it's still a good deal. I am in negotiations to see if my friend will go in on this with me.

This is a 60Hz LCD while the latest and greatest is 120Hz but I'm not too bothered by that. The price premium for a 120Hz is too much to justify a this point. This Sharp is good but the one knock against it is the banding issue that seems to plague some large Sharp panels. Not every unit has banding.

Check out this review.

Are you talking about the audio freq response, or does this have something to do with the video quality?

60Hz or 120Hz is the frame rate in LCD TV talks. Frankly, 120Hz is overated and is only useful when whatching sports. Movies are typically filmed in 24Hz and looks very artificial when played at 120Hz. My Sony has 120Hz and 80% of the time, I just leave it in 60Hz mode.

Banding issue was more on 2005-2006 models. I have a Aquos 52" since early 2007 and no issues with it, although I did buy the worst buy's warranty but never used.

I have read articles in HT mag where people had to reduce to 24Hz to get a normal picture. Putting the cart before the horse.

All the Hz wars is simply trying to sell the "next big thing". I've ever heard that Sony is getting ready to unleash 200Hz. As dkl and LeMans stated, 120 Hz is overrated, especially since Blueray is 24Hz, if I'm not mistaken. So it's definitely not worth it to pay for 120Hz. It's a gimmick.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the banding LeMans. I've read a ton about it on AVS but you know how it is there. Lots of crap and one or two gems in the lot.

Wow, that's a great price

I bought the SHARP LC46D64U in January of this year. At the time I got a smokin' deal for $1,699 with a free Sharp Blu-Ray player. LINK to original post.

NO banding issues with mine. I love it!

I think its a good price as these days you can easily find 1080p in 42" or greater for 1k or less.
My in-laws have same model as yours Aquos....and no issues there.
