yes, something is wrong - the banks are about to be nationalized and shareholder value will be wiped out. Or that is the fear anyway. Currency will take beatings all over the world - Gold is on the way up.

I understand what you are saying, but this is nothing like that. This is a massive intervention in the USD. It was a coordinated move that would have required billions to accomplish. For all we know it could be the good ol' PPT. Who knows.

Anyone know what will happen to my GM stock if they declare Chapter 11? I only have about 750 shares but still... GM is under $2 now. Would it be too risky to buy more???

I'm very curious as to how low the stock market can go. (Of course, we don't really have anything in stock, so we're sitting on the sidelines watching)

It's impossible to know how low it will go - there is no recent historical way to predict the future. Smart guys like Warren Buffett went back in a few months ago and his fund is now at it's lowest ever, something like 71k I think. He knows the market, maybe we are there now... I'm not ready, going to take my non 401k money and keep it in CDs. I want to be able to continue to sleep at night with my nest egg.

And we all thought that GM qtrly loss was a laugher...
AIG loses $62 Billion last qtr.

They "make" good stuff though: some insurance, and a truckload of
CDSs, securitized crap sandwiches, and on and on and...
No Sweat: another $30 Billion waiting in the wings for them,
courtesy of the non-stop printing presses vis a vis us, the taxpayers.

I'm guessing 6K or, maybe even 5500, in the next few weeks/months,
before the carnage is over. It may be a long time, Boys&Girls, before
happy days are here again.
