San Diego

My wife and I will be visiting her father next week over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Does anyone have any suggestions on things to see/do? We were there once before but outside of the family events we only made it to the airplane museum. Somewhere I heard there was a car museum... Any good?

I could read the travel info but I've found the recommendations here to be much better...

Thanks....

I lived there for a couple of years and it is a great town. Though I am not an expert on touristy things (WORK!!), my favorite part about San Diego and the thing that left a strong impression is the drive on the 101. Especially heading north from Torrey pines toward Del mar. The views of the beach as you clear Torrey pine, going downhill toward Delmar are beautiful... afterwards you could stop for a nice lunch overlooking the beach or simply spend some time on the beach!

There is a cool Australian-themed restaurant in the Gaslight district called "Bondi". Very cool place.

I actually live right by the car museum. It's in Balboa Park, beautiful area to visit, I walk through it every day

I'd suggest dining downtown, my personal favorite is Island Prime, it's part of the Cohen Group and is simply spectacular! A bit pricy but trust me it's worth it.

I would also suggest Point Loma, the monument is beautiful as long as we don't have a marine layer.

Yes I agree, I would also suggest Breakfast in La Jolla.

I frequent San Diego quite frequently.
Been to the auto museum once, they have a Veyron.
La Jolla is a nice place to visit, and don't forget about all the beaches nearby. I would go sailing in the bay there, it's a blast.
There is a cool go-carting facility in Carlsbad called K1 Speed.
Del Mar horse racing track, but I have no idea when they race.
