Ford should be pissed about the company...

Ford being lopped in the "Big 3 Collapse" is BS considering they have the best financial position of the group, actually turned a profit first quarter and asked for a credit line "IN CASE" one of the other clowns collapsed. Not exactly in the same boat as GM who has no money as of next month and Chrysler who is privately owned and doesn't disclose full financial interest (for all we know, they could be fine and just begging for money).

GM is an epic failure and I have a serious feeling a bulk of DEM Congress appointed funds will go directly to their immediate expenses. Instead of the "line of credit" that Ford was looking for in case something happens, GM will be spending it immediately as they have no cash on hand. Any money given to GM is ultimately postponing the inevitable. Where as Ford was turning profits and a corner with their products. Chrysler has been in the sh_t house since purchase by MB.

IMO Ford is looking stronger and stronger not only as a manufacturer but as a company. Hope that isn't "overlooked" by DEMs, as it has certainly been overlooked by the media.

I can't think of a Chrysler I would want to own.

Ford is making high quality cars these days just wish would focus more on handling.

GM does have a number of cars I would considers owning and just needs to get the finical house in order.

Bottom line no real reason to keep Chrysler.

I think the 300 is a gorgeous car and I love the Dodge Challenger...but that is about it. The Ford Focus (small I know) is a very nimble sucker. If they could transplant that (and I'm sure they will) into their larger rides, they'd be fine. Fords primary concern over the last few years, from what I've read, was taking the safety record Volvo had and putting that into their marquee. Now that Fords are far safer than they were 10 years ago, Volvo can hit the skids.

I've always been a ford man, until I started working at BMW of course

But Ford makes great vehicles, cars and trucks. And are starting to get more euro with the handling with cars like the fusion and focus. I would just love to see more rear wheel drive cars from them with better suspension than the solid axle under the mustangs...

Weasel,
that's the same direction GM should take with bringing Opel cars to the US. They're already doing it with Holden cars.

Regardless of manufacturer, finding a RWD model from any of the big 3 is getting tougher, RWD is going away fast, except for sport cars.

I would actually seriously consider getting an Opel err....Saturn Astra. BUT we only get a medicre motor here, the Ecotec 1,8 litre petrol that's honestly kind of outdated. If they offered the turbocharged 1,6 litre (180PS), 2 litre turbo (200 and/or 240 PS) or perhaps the best blend, the 1,9 litre Ecotec CDTI (150 PS and 5,9 l/100km (40 US mpg), then I would probably give back the X3 back to my dad and pick up the Astra.

The higher power motors might even give the Golf a good run for the money, although torque steer is a minor problem with the 240PS version.

And if you handed me $30k and told me to buy a new 4 door sedan, it would not be a new BMW 3er. It could possibly be the Holden/Pontiac G8.

I was honestly two seconds from signing on an R32 back in January.

I am more and more impressed, especially with all the domestics' "Euro" models. I'm not sure I'd buy one still, but they catch my attention a lot more than the previous GM/Ford/Chrysler "toaster".

GM while being the shittiest financially, is the only currently making cars worth anything imo. They've improved leaps and bounds in the last few years. What I don't understand is why they're considering dropping Saturn and scaling back Pontiac. Their Saturn (Opel run) cars are probably their strongest, and Pontiac easily the worst.

In the last year, I've had a rentals from all of them, and the Ford and Chrysler/Dodge stuff is pretty pathetic.

If GM gets the company together, I think they'll be ok in the long run since they have the vehicles to do well.

I'm on my second 300C the first with the small 340hp Hemi and now the SRT-8 with the big 425hp Hemi. Leased the first for 60 months because I did not trust the reliability of the American brands having owned German and Japanese cars over the last couple of decades. Wife Lexus and me Porsche and BMW's.

The first 300C was flawless, good looking and fast. Sure, it was lacking some of the fit and finish of the Lexus and BMW but not bad considering the price point of the Chrysler. I love driving the 300C SRT-8 and prefer it over some of the larger Sedans on the market. What is not to like? Good looks, 425hp and 435lbs tq, GREAT factory sound system with a Kicker Sub, Brembo brakes, good looking factory rims and pretty stiff suspension for such a large car.

I think many would disagree with you here if they drove a 300C SRT-8 or even the 300C with the small Hemi.
