Portable GPS

Well, my parents are in a predicament with their mobile GPS system. Our current map is quite old, and even the GPS is asking for us to update it. The update costs $99 which gets us to wonder . . .

For about $100, would there be a GPS with a modern map that is better than our current Garmin Nuvi 350?

We paid $300 for the Garmin Nuvi 350, and I believe it still does have much life in it. The reasoning behind buying a new one would be to have two GPS's in total, one for each car. Even if the map is older, it can still take us short distances, but we'd like at least one GPS with a modern map.

I also have a Nuvi 350... Personally I'd pay the $100 to update it if my budget to replace it was only $100. The 350 is prob better than the $100 units available. Getting a second GPS is another story..

Yea, the budget is EDIT: AROUND!$100, or just update the Nuvi. The point of getting a second GPS was to have an updated map while still having one the with the same performance as the Nuvi.

Derek, when you say the Nuvi is, "prob better," how sure are you? I'll go search Google for guides, but can somebody clarify what features to look for in a GPS?
