Talking Review of Morimoto's in Philly

Earlier this month, we got visit my old stomping grounds....the City of Brotherly Love....

Heard, they upgraded Philly with new restaurants....Iron Chef Morimoto opened his Japanese restaurant in Center City on Chestnut St. and my wife and I had a fabulous lunch!!

The restuarant changes color as you eat there. The food was fabulous if you like Japanese food with some fusion. Anyone living in Philly/NJ/NYC area should check it out!

Here are some pics of the restuarant and neighboring area (it's right by Independence Hall....just a block or so west of the Hall)

BTW, saw the "The Duck" mobile in Philly....Apparently, it is an amphibian vehicle which can be driven in the street and then you can cruise the river with it. Maybe the next gen X5 should incorporate this feature?

Haven't watched Iron Chef in a while, but I used to love that show! Morimoto rules!!
I went to school just outside of Philly (Villanova) but now I'm up by New York. I miss Philly - it's a great city.

Speaking of food, I see you live in Hoboken....I'm sure you have tried Patsy Grimaldi's Coal Oven Pizza....I had in Scottsdale once and thought it was the bomb. SG doesn't like NY style pizza.

Anyhow, since you close to NY, there is a fabulous Japanese-Fusion restaurant called Koi in L.A. and now they just opened one in NYC. You should check it out. www.koirestaurant.com

Glad you made it to Morimoto, Doc! Me and the future Mrs. have been twice for dinner, phenomenal. Even got to meet the Man and got him to autograph our bottle of Morimoto Ale, which they no longer serve.

Looks like a popular place - how long did you have to wait for a table?

sorry, couldn't resist...

There are also opening a Tao in Las Vegas within the Venetian this fall.

Yeah, silly me, I tried to get a table @ Tao in NYC last December as a walk-in and the next available was for 11 pm (this was on a weeknight)
