Yeah, B&D. I see how a war in 1812 could reflect on how well Canada can take care of themselves today. Good point. LOL

A Maple leaf...I mean really....

Who can really get mad at a Maple leaf? I would not give them to much grief...they did hit the shores on D day with us...that should work like a store credit.

You got that right. What was that historical stat about France's record for surrendering?

If Big Brother (USA) was never there it might have been a part of Canada or Mexico. So the growth of the USA into a world power might have been paralleled with Canada or Mexico. I think there would have been a greater chance of us speaking Spanish than Russian. This is all wild-a$$ conjecture as nobody can say what really would have happened. BTW, Canadians are just as fond of making fun of their own leaders as anyone elses.

I think if we had a Cannibis leaf instead then everyone would love us. On second thought if that was the case we probably wouldn't care one way or the other.

Sorry guys but as a French borned person with a strong Italian background, a wife from Ireland and now living in the USA I find this discussion really puerile. Who care who is from where and where he is leaving and what are his political ideas, the most imprtant thing here is that we all share a same interest in a german designed car.

Firstly, I had to look up the meaning of puerile.
Secondly, this is the Lounge where discussions are typically non-car related.
Thirdly, I think you're taking this thread too seriously. Most people on this thread are making fun of ourselves just as much as anyone else.
Fourthly, I care very much who is from where and what their political ideas are. It's what makes us individuals and it's what make conversation interesting. If everyone had the same ideas we'd never learn anything. I don't have to agree with you but I'm interested in what you have to say.

I agree 100% with you on this and sorry if I tooked it too seriously. After 6 years in the US I am still in the learning curve about what is politicaly correct and what is not as well as with English spelling and grammar as you can see.

Gotcha. It's tough picking up people's intent in a forum when you don't have body language and vocal tone as indicators.
