Anyone ever heard of ordering textbooks from England?

My teachers think we're all loaded, they expect about $1200 worth of books that can't be purchased news. A quick ISBN search showed that I'd save 30-50% by buying off amazon.co.uk including shipping to the middle of nowhere, SC. Anyone ever heard of it, or am I staring up the barrel of a gun?

M,
You don't have a used section at the campus bookstore?
Used was big biz, back in the Acid Days/'60s.

A quick Net search turns up pages of used textbook site, fwiw.

Don't see why Amazon US wouldn't work...the UK deal might have
some import duty on it, unless books are exempt, or "used stuff"
is exempt. Any goods we have had shipped from UK have always
come in with a declared value and some duty/fees were owed.

Maybe the UK books have different endings...

ex: "The Americans have stolen the kings land and declared it theirs. Now they kick us off their soil and refuse to pay tax for tea. - Bloody Yankees.."

What's the ISBN number? I can probably play around with the internet and find something.

I googled the ISBN numbers, Amazon.com was about $96 (a $14 discount) and with shipping to the US, amazon.co.uk was $72... The bookstore here sucks bigtime, and marks everything up 10% (not to mention is out of a lot of books already), and I would rather conserve funds for better things.
The books are all new, published within 2 weeks, and the others have stupid subscriptions so they have no value. Except my awful french book, which I hacked and gave to my friend. $144 for a paperback, colored up pile of crapola.

why don't you order one and give it a try, if the ISBN # matches the US version, there should be no difference

Yeah, I think I will. Worst case scenario I sell it on ebay.
