I don't get it...What's the point? Paying the extra dough for the "Mac" brand name? It's probably just a re-badged Intel motherboard anyway...so why not just pay $300 bucks for an e-machine or something like that?

One of the things that may make this work is the fact that Apple (as they usually do) may maintain a closed system. Thats why integration has been so easy. I suspect that it will still be the Apple way of doing things with a huge speed bump and Unix stability. I cant wait to see what the future brings and how it will pan out. New ideas and ways of accomplishing them are going to be very interesting. Sun, Google, and Java come to mind as well. The next year will see some interesting technology.

I guess I am lost on this one -- why video on a phone and/or MP3 player? I can understand viewing photos, but video? Maybe if it contained a built in TV tuner, but beyond that...

Have you played with a PSP yet, Chris? (You're a tech guru, so surely, you have!) If not, I suggest you to go to your nearest Best Buy and give it a whirl. The thing's amazing! The picture quality is incredible! You can watch a couple of movies on one charge AND, you can carry around with you -- in your pocket! My oldest son has one, and I've been so impressed with it. He watches movies on it, plays games on it, and even cruises the web on it (it's got built-in wi-fi).

Rumor has it that Apple has been watching the success (or lack thereof, though I read it's selling well) of the PSP to see if "there is a market" for it out there. It is believed that Apple has had a working Video iPod for a while now. If they release something that is up to that level, I'm buying one!
