I think you should all get together and have a contest to see who is right.

But first I gotta give them my mother's maiden name, proper shoe size, rubber mold of my hand, get bar code tatooed on my neck, get government tracking microchip implanted, etc... THEN you can hold the paper targets!

Paper targets? I thought we are talking stopping power here. How can you tell that from shooting at a paper target?

Stop your crying gun slingers. Jump through the hoops and you will still be able to own guns. Like I said before, I am glad they are making it harder to purchase them. Do I think that this is going to end our gun issues in the US? No, but anything is a step in the right direction.

I realize that criminals do not obtain their guns legally, but if guns are harder to purchase in the first place, then less people will be able to do so, which would lead to less guns in curculation and a smaller gun pool for theives. This could lead to less stolen guns being used later in crimes. I would suspect that the people who want guns bad enough to jump through these hoops would be more likely to be responsible owners who use gun safes or other security measures.

Restrictions are not the only thing that needs to happen though. We also need increased jail time for people convicted of possessing stolen guns, committing crimes with guns and so on. And seriously, what about a gov't sponsored gun buy back program? Pump it up in the news that you can get big cash for your guns and that would help clean some up as well. I think that would go over really well right now.

I also think ammo should be better regulated. I am not positive on this, but I am under the impression that you can walk into any store and buy ammo for any legal gun without question, right? If that is the case, what about making a law where you have to show photo ID and registration papers for the gun you are buying ammo for? That may make it harder for people using illegal guns to obtain ammo in the first place. Just a thought.

Once again, there is no easy answer to our gun issues in this country, but steps like the ones above may help prevent some crimes and or deaths. If we could chip away at it, it would be better than what we are doing right now. I really don't see how you guys can argue with that.

You can only buy handgun ammo if you are over the age of 21, and I think Walmart no longer stocks the rounds used in the Columbine shooting

I don't think you can even buy a handgun until you're 21, or maybe thats just another stupid hypocritical southern thing... What gets me is that I can go shoot a freaking AK anytime I want to, yet not a Glock.

Care to take a crack at it? If you were king, absolute ruler of the United States, what policy would you implement to decrease poverty over the next 5 years?
Shoot everyone who has been sent to prison three times. Three strikes and we get to line you up at the firing range and practice with our legal guns! That would be a crime deterrent eh! It would then eliminate most on poverty too.

I think there was a country that once tried such an idea. Care to guess which one, and when?
