Leasing may be the continuation of "come on cheap credit", imo.
I thought almost all new school teachers got pink slips in Cali? What is a 1st or 2nd year teacher doing buying a new car in this economy?

I use that calculator all the time too. It's pretty brilliant.

And yes, there was a wrench in the gear. He was calculating the value of her trade into the price. And he was still trying to rip her off.

I ran the numbers and he was overcharging her $85 a month.. Glad she called me first.

-- Also, while I try to give people my advice on how to spend money, truth be told, it's not my business. I make suggestions, I give alternative ideas, but people do what people do.. SO I just try to help them by making sure they aren't ripped off. But who am I to tell them how much to spend and on what. Their grown ups and they have to make their own financial decisions.

I would argue and have numbers that frame the argument.. It's cheaper to lease a car than it is to buy one. Provided that...... (there are a lot of factors to follow).

But her current car is having problems and she needs a new ride. So she can either buy outright, finance, lease..

And in Cali, lease is the better option. At least in my opinion.
