Unhappy Excuse this insufferable old fool but..........

I was listening to a local talk show today and they were discussing an
article in todays paper about the loss of civility in restaurants locally.

"It's the recent spate of weird antics - pole dancing in a crowded dining room, sex in the bathroom and raucous feuding - that has restaurant workers scratching their heads. The article goes on and on about people who are rude, disrespectful and aggressive.

No doubt some people think it's OK to act the way they do but this article points out some interesting observations.

Bay Area diners' behavior grabs attention

It's bad when the New Orleans restaurants near Bourbon Street have less problems than described in that article.... Away from the tourist areas like that the restaurants remain quiet and classy around here usually. Maybe it is due in part to the extravagant west coast lifestyle???

Or the sense of entitlement

Exactly;
Some chalk it up to a generation raised on Facebook, Twitter and reality television, where narcissism and bad behavior is not only accepted, it's encouraged. Some of it was started by the Simpsons. Now days it Family guy and a host of other programs that people imitate.....

I don't really blame the shows as I love Family Guy and the Simpsons but don't act like Peter Griffin or Homer Simpson. Those people who cannot differentiate between a television show and reality are seriously lacking things in other areas of their lives. Brain cells, perspective, a decent foundation and upbringing, amongst other things.

It comes down to the basics. It seems that people don't even teach simple politeness anymore. "Please", "thank you", and "you're welcome" are disappearing from our vernacular.

...hmm..easy way out. I blame parents. The Simpson's came out when I was 9..I remember my mom telling me "you aren't allowed to watch that". I use Facebook and Twitter daily, "The Real World" possibly the first ever reality show came out when I was 14.

Parents.....trust me, they are important...they make all the difference in the WORLD.

I routinely hold doors for women at work, maybe one out of 10 says 'thank you'. So I seriously doubt this is a "generational" thing. I say "Thanks, Thank you, Thanks in advance or Sincerely" in every work email I write, rarely are people ever so polite back. PARENTS = IMPORTANT.

Best movie line ever:

"..You need a license to drive a car, you need a license to buy a beer, hell you need a license to catch a fish..but any @sshole can be a father"

Imagine what it's like to come from a generation that
believed spitting on the sidewalk was a disgusting
display of bad manners.
