I almost agree with this though. I watched a special that discussed the availability of security details to all freighters off the African coast. The cost was substantial but reduced insurance liability. The feeling was 'it is cheaper to pay the ransom than put security on the ship'. That said, he knew the job he had and the risks that were possible.
