marvel mystery oil

i haven't seen any posts discussing marvel mystery oil. i've used it on a wide range of stuff for years now and i was contemplating putting some in the engine oil and in the fuel tank of my 2002 4.4i with 83K Miles. i used it recently to do a tune up on an old bicycle for a friend and i was blown away, again, with how good the stuff works. I want to drink it myself.

has anyone used this in their engine or fuel system? i think i'm gonna buy a couple quarts and give it a go after work tonight. i'm looking to quiet the lifters a bit.

i was also contemplating putting something else in the engine oil, not at the same time of course, but something that will help any gaskets and seals and such like a lucas oil addative.

0-2, ok ok...

anyone out there ever add anything to the engine oil to help with sticky lifters? i know BMW has engine treatments, which i am sure are similar to those i can buy at a local store. maybe go with one of those?

Swepco 502, I'll swear by it. Most noise is not actually lifters in the case of BMW, but you can try it.

HAHA, I guess i set myself up for something like that. i know the difference. it just made all the chains and bearings spin like new is all i was trying to say.

I do know of people who use Marvel in their engines, epically when getting it ready to sit for a winter.

as far as the noise, i'm almost 100% sure its noisy lifters, its been like this since i've owned the X, just was thinking of putting something in there to help extend the life.

whenever the lifters get noisy on my x i have them do a bleed down and it quiets them. in fact it needs to be done again, they're clicking.

Hmmm.....

Marvel Mystery Oil - Petroleum product.
BMW recommended motor lubricant - Synthetic.

Pouring it down the crankcase of your Bimmer might be a problem. But it's definitely good stuff when used on a lawnmower engine.
