marvel mystery oil
has anyone used this in their engine or fuel system? i think i'm gonna buy a couple quarts and give it a go after work tonight. i'm looking to quiet the lifters a bit. i was also contemplating putting something else in the engine oil, not at the same time of course, but something that will help any gaskets and seals and such like a lucas oil addative.

I wouldn't do it. But that's just me.

0-2, ok ok...
anyone out there ever add anything to the engine oil to help with sticky lifters? i know BMW has engine treatments, which i am sure are similar to those i can buy at a local store. maybe go with one of those?

Swepco 502, I'll swear by it. Most noise is not actually lifters in the case of BMW, but you can try it.

I do know of people who use Marvel in their engines, epically when getting it ready to sit for a winter. as far as the noise, i'm almost 100% sure its noisy lifters, its been like this since i've owned the X, just was thinking of putting something in there to help extend the life.

whenever the lifters get noisy on my x i have them do a bleed down and it quiets them. in fact it needs to be done again, they're clicking.

Hmmm.....
Marvel Mystery Oil - Petroleum product. BMW recommended motor lubricant - Synthetic. Pouring it down the crankcase of your Bimmer might be a problem. But it's definitely good stuff when used on a lawnmower engine. |
