How coincidental. Driving home from the office yesterday evening I saw a black MB up ahead on the New York Thruway, near the New Paltz exit. I had a feeling it wasnt just a regular MB and sure enough as I got closer I saw that it was a SL65 AMG convertible. The fellow driving it looked familiar but I couldnt put a name to the face. I am terrible with the celebrity thing. I am not a big MB fan but that car was absolutely beautiful, never mind that it cost more than some people's house.

$300K for an ugly car like that. BTW looks like a pimp version of a regular SL that cost less than half of the MSRP of the SL63. If I had that kind of money I would go directly to a Ferrari or Lamborghini dealer. I can guarantee you will lose a lot less money on depreciation too. A 2008 SL63 retails now for a little more than $100K or a whopping $200K depreciation in one year. That proves that only a moron would buy such a thing.

I saw the Merc Black at Keyes on Van Nuys dealership...

Thought it was absolutely horrendous looking.

There is car like this in Greenwich already....saw it on Sat. UGLY! But still deserves respect.

Not sure if the one you have see is the "BLACK" Edition...as it is supposed to now trump the AMG line...

I don't think it looks bad, but it looked like somebody riced out what could have been a really good looking car.

I also agree that at that price point MB has priced themselves out of the game. Good for them if they can sell as many as they project. BMW couldn't at that price. When I have that kind of money laying around, I will be thinking Ferrari, not MB.

Straight-line acceleration..how excitiing.

Iirc, the useability of V12TT power has been pretty shitty in past MB's.
