Car Problems everywhere....

Driving back from Canada this passed Sunday...somewhere along PA right at the border with OH my mother calls me to tell me that her car is not working anymore...I asked what exactly specifically is wrong with it...symptoms...she says car acts as if its in N ...

First thought Transmission....I get there with 2 cars...tell her to drive my X to her house...

Looked underneath...no fluids...nothing really out of the ordinary...

15 Min later I start the car...worked fine...but (from what I thought) there was a noise coming from the torque converter...

From there I drove it home no faster than 60 MPH...anything faster than that the revs would go up for no reason...

So...either converter, transfer case or both...

Brought the car back to my place...and I've been working on it since Monday evening...

I opened the transfer case up...and its dry ...I can't explain it...since there were no fluids underneath the car

car has 120k miles on it...maintained somewhat at the dealer except for the oil changes... etc (little things) that i've done...

I think I am gonna end up buying a transmission...can't find the transfer case at a reasonable price...as might as well get the whole thing...and sell this one...

Any advice appreciate it...

That's a ML W163, right? I'd go on over to MBWorld.org and post a question in that forum. Since the W163 wasn't exactly the paragon of reliability, I'm sure others have experienced what you mention.
