The bill does not sound unreasonable however it would seem hard to enforce and ad campaign for safe driving would yield better results. Its all about driver focus, people can be distracted by adjusting the climate control or the gps. Are they going to enact a law against talking to your passenger?

I honestly don't know why people still live in that state.

They should ban Toyota Priuii because the touchscreen is complicated, obtuse, and draws your eye away from the road. Also, the Energy flow display is particularly good at distracting you from the child or bicyclist you're about to run over, because they haven't heard you coming.

As opposed to names like "bubba" and "maryjoe," referring to black people as "colored," the fashion statement that is overalls and spittin' tobacco-stained Dale Jr. T-shirts?

I'll take Jersey, thank you very much.

While I rant/ranted at the genius legislators that dream up another set of rules,
it does again raise the issue of what people should be doing, while aiming 2 tons
of vehicle down the road...

I am not a fan of front seat TV-on, texting, working the lap top in the passenger
seat, the myriad set of new info devices new cars have, etc. Add in the ubiquitous
cell phone, GPS, eating your left over piece of cake, swinging at the kids in the
back seat, reading a book, and on and on, and on...

I also realize the lowest common denominator effect, and while I, and most
of us here, are great drivers, most of the "drivers" out there, are not imo.

Dunno where to set bar or draw lines...but, in my 47 years of driving and riding
m'cycles, the skill quality of "driving", out there on the highways of life, has not
kept up with modern cars' performance potentials, imo.

I do see very adroit and capable driving while the driver is doing "other stuff";
I also see "driving" that makes we wonder how the azzhole ever passed Driver's
Ed.

It is scary out there and, remarkable to me that there aren't more accidents than
there are. The safety features now in modern cars have reduced the death rate,
but the skill level remains suspect. All these other things going on, while driving,
cannot help the situ, imo. My 5 bucks worth...

What's wrong with my name? I think Bubba has a nice ring to it.

70% of the people I know here aren't even originally from the south anymore. Myself included.

You are located in Charlotte, right? Are you being held there against your will or something? Last time I checked it was in the southeast?

Hmmm;

Most gps devices restrict "manually programming a gps while driving" ?
I didn't know that was still the case. We can program both of our
vehicles while driving. Accura has the same ability.

Plus, I would bet more people have portable devices that can be programmed whenever.

Its fine, as long as its not like the asinine system in our old Audi which locked it out even to a passenger.

And yeah, gresch hit the nail on the head with GA women.
