The link in the first post says they have an internal kill switch for if they get over 113 degrees... does that mean people in Vegas and the like can't use it outside during 3 months of the year?
I was in Vegas 1 year ago today and it was 112 degrees with 6% humidity if I remember right...

The advisory on the Apple website indicates the temperature warning screen is featured on both the 3G and 3GS, so what seems to be the fuss? There are not a lot of 3G owners complaining about the built-in temp alarm triggering, so heat must not be a problem. And doesn't the 3GS run at 600 Mhz as opposed to 624 Mhz for the older 3GS?

Good question;
This might shed some light on the issue. According to this article this overheated iPhone is one in a million. As such, I wouldn’t worry that this is going to happen to your iPhone 3GS any time soon—if ever. Bugs & Fixes: iPhones that are too hot to handle | Phones | iPhone Central | Macworld Quote:

Agreed heat is caused by the processor, but if you read the comments, there are other iPhone 3GS owners who did experience "hot potato" syndrome while using bluetooth on the phone. One owner did noticed "browning" of his white iPhone 3GS.
I believe your mileage may vary and if you iPhone runs hot...stop what you are doing and let it cool off. Go to the home screen or shut it off. You may not want to put a case on your iPhone to prevent it from cooling off. iPhone 3GS has a much faster processor than last year's iPhone 3G. Quote:
