WHY changing stock exhaust on 4.4????
the stock chrome exhaust sounds a lot better of a DINAN or after installing the x pipe; YouTube - X5 stock exhaust revving

I get enough second glances with the stock exhaust on my 4.4. In fact, I have been accused of speeding through the neighborhood when I was not, strictly because of the roar. However, like Quicksilver said, if you like a different sound....

really comes down to personal preference like stated. I think there is a night and day comparison and you don't relise it until its on your car and you hit the gas. I admit the stock exhaust has a nice tone, but no way does it compare to the DINAN or ACS or any high quality aftermarket option. Plus the added perfomance of air flow is a bonus as well. But to compare a stock to a modded exhaust there is no comparison to me... just my .02
much happier with the tone after addind the dinan exhaust

I have to agree with themoth. The 4.8is stock exhaust is awesome, but the exhaust note would get lost through the RPM range. There were more times when it sounded like an I6 than a V8.
I love the Dinan exhaust on the 4.8is, the exhaust note is more notable, and you hear it more through the RPM range. Performance or not, I think the Dinan exhaust beats the stock exhaust.
