Sort of like the BMW Z8. Most are listed over $100,000. Some are up near $140,000 on Autotrader right now.

Z8 is becoming collectors item. Not sure about R8.

Yeah. Funny thing about the Z8 is that it was pretty much a collectors car from day one. The values never really dropped off. I was just saying that the R8 is similar in that aspect so far and used prices are right up there near the original purchase price. Just like with the Z8's prices.

We will see what heppens in a few years with the R8, but it is a very unique car. I bet it will hold it's value pretty well.

Oddest thing about the Z8 is that lack of LSD.... never quite understood why it didn't have one.

I saw a photo of an R8 window sticker on Autotrader. The 2008 MSRP was around $109k+/- with gas guzzler tax of about $2,000 and a destination charge of $1,000. Not sure how much over MSRP they were going for though. How much were Z8's new, about the same?

just becaused they are listed for close to $140k doesnt mean they are worth that. Z8's are way below 100k on ebay.

Ebay is not exactly the regular market. If you want a good example of a Z8 you will probably 90k to $110k+. We are splitting hairs here though. My point was that Z8 prices have held steady even though the car is 6-9 years old now. What was the MSRP of a 2001 Z8? Near $100k? Like LeMans said, they are becomming collector items and the price will most likely remain very near original MSRP for a while. Are you saying that they are not holding their value well? I would say that there really haven't been many (or any) BMW's in recent years where the prices have held so steady like the Z8.

Yes they are holding value stong.. But very little sell for more then 100k.

about 5 months ago a showroom silver 2001 Z8 with 9000 miles came through the auction and sold for $79,500. the guy thought it was worth over $100K too .. he put ads everywhere and had to end up selling for $85,000. the car only did $83,000 on ebay.

just because they are listed for $110K doesnt mean its worth it..

i will check book value for it on an exotic book.
