Dreaming of a "white" Halloween...

Well, the spectacular weather of the past few weeks came to a screeching halt last night and today:
we crawled outta the rack to fog, cold rain, and some white/solid precipitation on the deck, roof, leaves of the prennials, etc.

Oh, and a cute 26 degs F. this am... It's now 36 up here on the Mtn at midday.

The first pic is a shot from a friend's deck taken yesterday afternoon, after our Divorce Derby. He lives about 1500 vertical feet below us, overlooking the 4th green and 5th fairway: it does not get much more clear or beautiful, weather-wise, here. The 2nd pic is this am from the window of my library/'puter room. Ugh.

Watching the WeatherChannel and the talking head news sites, the coverage of Naples,FL did not look good for our new seasonal starter joint; hope the recently planted palm trees didn't take out too much of our new shack. Weird weather follows us around the country like the black cloud over PigPen. It is what it is, I suppose, rationalizing of course.

MD - Do you have people checking on it for you? I was supposed to go down there today - obviously postponed a day or two. If you want, I'll give you my email or cell number, and I can run by when I head down there this week. It'll either be tomorrow or Weds. Can take a few pics if you want.

YJ: We have a hubby/wife/son team, whom live in our little dev. fulltime; we pay them to "check it" weekly/bi-monthly and they also put up the storm shutters after we left there this past July, following closing. They were out of town on a vacay, when we were there two weeks ago, finishing the int. painting, etc. I suppose they will go do a "neighborhood check" when they can get back/get out, espc. on the houses they "cover".


With all that preamble, IF you are going near our lil'joint in the next few days and have the 30 mins spare, to cruise in off I-75 to our joint, I would be most appreciative.

If you are able, post or PM or email me and I can give exact directions. Our "front door" is less than 7 mins from the time one gets off of I-75 at Exit 111, even counting the lifetime stoplights in FL!

I think you were a little north of the worst of it, which was done near Everglades City. You were still within the damage zone though.

We had a really weird situ here - unusually strong cold front coming in from the north, and hurricane to the south. The two met right over the top of us. The result was plummeting temps (was near 90 over the weekend, was about 60 this morning, and dropping all day to 50 tonight), with 50 mph winds, and rain. Humid wind from one side, dry and cold from the other.

Maybe you guys up north are used to that stuff, but I like to froze to death when I walked the dog this morn. Yikes. Gonna have to pull out the woolies.

Glad to help. I'm sure that all is fine, but it must be a drag to be 700 miles away and not know for sure.

Yeah, that stuff on the roof is fooking snow!
We had a "dusting" that covered the deck, roof, and coated the remaining leaves. It is now a brisk thirtyfreakintwo here at 2:45 this afternoon. WTF?!

I can hardly wait to get to FLA this "season", if my Joint is still there and ok.
