Radar detector lose range over time?

Hey all, I have an Escort 8500 Passport X50, and it works great and has saved me numerous times. I've never had a ticket while using it and it has saved me from laser guns as well. Granted there were other cars very close to me at times when my escort alerted me of a laser gun. None the less, the thing does its job. Its a few years old now so i was just wondering if it weakens? or if the range of the radar detector gets worse over time? My initial thought is no. but I was just wondering. Maybe its time to get a 9500ci?

No. The only thing that changes is the technology of the radar for which law enforcement uses (i.e., POP, etc.). If you're going to upgrade, I would suggest the V1 over the 9500. I would take the arrows over the GPS any day. I had both.

I'd take the V1 as well....not because of the arrows necessarily...to me they are just a plus...because no matter from what direction... when that thing beeps you'll know what to do...

There was a YouTube video posted that opens with a V1 picking up a Radar Hit. The voyeur one about the speeding.

Issue one is usually LASER is hard to detect early enough to be of any help in traffic.

Issue two is that once hit with Laser, it's probabaly too late.
