Wow! Very happy to hear that you made it through pretty much unscathed. That was a close one.

It makes me feel good about the fact that my wife daily drives an e53. I will be waiting to see the damage when you get a minute to post the photos, but like everyone already said, you are safe and that is what metters.

good to hear you are ok , driving whilst tired should be avoided , next time take a cab or get a lift from friend , at least having a companion helps so long as they are awake .
i had a scary time many years ago when i agreed to drive a 40 ton truck and semi trailer to Barcelona , i was driving at night and trying to sleep during daytime in 35c heat , and after 4 days i was returning through southern France at 3am when i could no longer control the truck and was falling asleep but i refused to close my eyes and watched this surreal moment when the truck and trailer wre weaving from side to side of the autoroute until i came to my senses and applied the emergency brake and pulled over to the emergency lane where i remained for 20minutes whilst i slept enough to allow me to continue to a rest stop 30 miles up the road where i stopped and collapsed on the bunk for 18 hours then drove another 450 miles then slept another 24 hours .
i decided to never try that again .

glad to hear your ok and that you walked away. I think luck saved you more than your X5. Never a good idea to drive when tired. I think you know that now.

Wow, you can do a lot of damage and a lot of harm falling asleep at the wheel. Glad to hear luck (and the X5) was on your side. You were very fortunate indeed.
