Well, I wish it were that easy. It's a long, complicated story, and I won't bore with the details, but here's the cliffs notes version: the builder (large builder here in the south east) screwed up and under-priced our house; when they realized their mistake (after we had a signed contract), they became very difficult and have even tried to get us out of contract. The last thing we want to do is provoke them. (And, since I know someone will ask, no, you can't sue -- it's in the contract. You can go to a "mediator" who is a member of the Builder Association or something -- so, not our side.)

We don't want to do anything that would encourage them to say we're doing something wrong or we're out of contract... They set the date. You'd better show up. If not, they'll sell it the very next day to the next person on the waiting list for $150K more than we would have paid.

Juan

That's the reason they're waiting until the end of the year, it's the only way they can "get you back" in some respect I guess. To really tick them off, put a for sale sign out front the day after you close.

Yup! You got it!

We've actually thought about that, but we love this house too much to do that.

It would be hard to part with such a beautiful house. I couldn't do it either.

Yep. I was taking pictures of something and she insisted that I take one of her.
She's about two years old. We got her from a shelter. She was at a shelter in Kansas City, was 2 days away from being put down, the shelter up here took her in and then I got her. We've only had her since June, but seems like forever already. Great dog.

1. We get to pay for an entire year's worth of taxes, even though we will live in it for a week (or less).
2. I get to spend this holiday season with boxes all of over the f*#&ing place!!

We just KNEW they were gonna do that...

<sigh> it is what it is... <taking DEEP breaths right now... counting to 10>

How about the musk rats idea? It worked for the boat so no reason it would not work for the house

I completely forgot about our buddy the muskrat!
Juan,
Tie the boat to a tree by the house, maybe they'll get the idea.
