I just spoke with the body shop. They say that, at this point, it appears no frame damage, and in fact, nothing really major needed. Replace bumper, rear quarter panel, wheel, and a few other things. Somewhere in the $6k range at this point (which will be covered by insurance, of course). I am quite happy to hear this, as I wasn't quite ready to replace the X5 just yet.

Update: My X5 is STILL at the body shop. Damage is up over $9k now, but still "nowhere close to worrying about totaling the car". They claim they would have been done already, but getting parts for it has been very slow. I looked it over this morning, and what they have done so far looks great. Paint is perfect. They tell me they are waiting for a couple small suspension parts and they should be ready to release it back to me in less than a week.

The disconnect is an automatic safety device that when youre hit, or hit someone the line to the fuel tank disconnects..so it doesn start a fire

Well, after 42 days in the shop, I finally got my X5 back today! Good as new, as far as I can tell. Drives perfectly, and I can't tell any defects whatsoever. Almost $10k in damages, but only cost me $300 deductible. At least at this point, I haven't received any negative notices from Allstate.

Insurance company chose fix, not replace. And, it actually fits into an overall plan I have. My son will get his license in a year, so I will hand down the X5 to him. He gets a cool, very safe car for his first. I wouldn't get a lot for trade-in anyway, with (by then) over 100k miles on it. And I get a new one for myself.
