Talking Get better AT&T cell & 3G reception at home with this...

This might even interest Quicksilver...For those who get cruddy reception at home with AT&T, you can now get a AT&T 3G Microcell made by Cisco. Not only does it improve your cell reception for voice, but it is the only femtocell that supports 3G data. The femtocell sold for Verizon & Sprint (made by Samsung) supports voice, but data is only 1x RTT and not 3G EV-DO.

Here's a review...

AT&T 3G MicroCell unboxing and impressions

FWIW i just put this in at the house, and it definitely makes things better. I can now get 3 bars in a room where I was lucky to get 1 on my iPhone. Service around my house is horrible, and the extender helps. Though I would toss it and get a MicroCell when it's available in my area.

I might be interested if it didn't cost extra.

For example. The wife has a blackberry 8900 wifi
UMA enabled. With t-mobile we didn't have to buy additional gear and
there's no additional monthly charge plus my wife uses so few
minutes they just roll over. Also UMA usage is unlimited, and
does not count against her voice minutes (though other charges, e.g.
international toll charges, can still apply). Uma can also be used
anywhere where there's WIFI. Pretty sweet imo

FYI, the Microcell has been released. Mine is currently in the process of activating. For $150, you essentially get 5 bars at home. There is no need to pay additional for 'unlimited' Microcell minutes, which costs around $20 a month--if you don't buy the unlimited, it just eats your regular plan minutes. Check out AT&T 3G MicroCell for more info.
