Hey realchef and statdoc, any hints/tips on the best foods to sooth a liquor induced ulcer?

I think I partied a little too hard....... and my stomach is punishing me for it. I drank to this point...

Sorry, quit drinking YEARS ago.

From what I hear, nothing heavily seasoned or spicy. Normal stuff. Definately WATER and some coated aspirin. Used to do it for me.

I hear mixed reviews on the spicy stuff... too much can cause more discomfort with the ulcer, but supposedly the capsaicin supposedly creates an inhospitable environment for the bacteria that makes an ulcer... so it helps "heal" it faster.

So in my case, too much alcohol got through the mucus liner at what feels like the top of my stomach, allowing the bacteria that lives in our stomachs to infect that spot, and my ulcer is born. The food I love down here in cajun country will actually be one of the possible keys to kicking this ulcer's butt, and I have antibiotics left over from my last surgery to help as well.

One of these days I'll learn

Sorry, dude, stick to fixing cars. You are mixing up the cause of an ulcer that is more chronic in nature, and the likely "alcoholic gastritis" that you have now. You have inflamed and irritated the lining of your stomach from the adult beverages that you enjoyed so much. You do not have a bacterial-caused ulcer already. And, if you choose to do some spicy food, you might just not like it....at all.

Start taking some Prilosec OTC 2 pills every 24 hours. Avoid anything with high acid or spice content, or any more alcohol. And, every time it hurts, remember how stupid it was to hurt yourself.
