1) The touring version will be a goer. 2) It will be sold in North America. 3) It will cost closer to US$30K than US$40K (provided the US $ doesn't nose dive in comparison to the Euro.) |

Hell, it doesn't even have to be fast...that's just f'ing sick!!! Single sided swing arm, nice and long for great launches while keeping the front tire down, mean looking nose fairings..almost Ducati 740r'ish http://749r.info/images/0002.jpg. I could do w/o the chunky tail, give it an optional rear seat for the ladies and maybe full fairings. Yes please

I figure there will be a full faired version and single/dual seat will be an option perhaps with a removable cowl. BMW has also said that there will be a touring model so perhaps three models in all: Naked (as per pic), a sports faired model, and the touring model.

Sport faired, 10-12k range...I might just have to sell the TLR.

Kind of surpised that the eco-freaks won't be all over this... That said, I'd be down.

I was lucky enough to own a Honda CBX 1000 F2 , removed the big fairing and fitted a bikini fairing with twin cibie halogen lights , and very loud twin exhausts in black chrome made a beautiful sound especially in tunnels . could do impressive wheelies , could accelerate faster than anything , even a fireblade up to around the 120mph mark before the fireblade caught up . this was due to the wieght of the motor preventing lift if you lay forward whilst putting down full power from a stop . it would slide the rear wheel on corners with too much throttle , great fun and a great cruiser .
EDIT - I just remembered a 25 mile cruise southbound on the A9 Pitlochry to Perth late one night a Kawasaki Z1300 rolled alongside as I cruised at 70mph the sound of 12 cylinders was amazing as we both opened up to 130mph struggling to see far enough ahead in the dark . awesome noise . Amongst other stuff you gotta love those pipe tips poking out. I agree with MD re riding position but hey, who gives a flying *#*^ when you're riding something like this. All you gotta do is pull it up after a few hours and just sit there gaulking at it before you go again. Alas, somewhat a tad better than my old R100RT.
Wow, where's the keys??

Just put a throttle lock on it and situp for a bit if it bothers you. I've taken my bike on a few 3-4hr straight rides...I don't think it'd be comfortable on any sportbike regardless.

According to a BMW Motorrad source: "The Concept 6 will expand the K-Series very soon with its introduction as a luxurious tourer, the brands top-of-the-line bike" - "BMW hinted that the concept bike itself is something of a red herring, but the 1600cc engine is not - it will appear next year powering their grand tourer".
That will obviously replace the K1200LT which is the current BMW touring bike flagship and therefore probably my next touring bike. I just came back today from a 3h highway ride here in NC with a weather temp between 48 and 50degres F and heavy drizzle. During my trip I never felt cold or even wet. In fact I had a very relaxing ride, used the cruise control almost all the way and listened to my favorite radio station through the stock radio and a noise reduction in-ear headset. I arrived home as fresh as I was when I started my trip. As usual my BMW k1200LT rode like a champ, felt like being on a rail and kept me protected from the element like a cocoon. My next touring bike has to be the direct replacement of this one. |
