Who has a VCR/recorder?
The old VCR is shot. Actually, don't miss it that much since most of the stuff we watch is DVD. I wouldn't mind getting some of those tapes onto DVD, though. I assume there is a consumer oriented VCR/Recorder out there. Anyone have one? Any thoughts?

I bought an Emerson DVD/VHS recorder from WalMart to use at work. I had to go cheap, because I was expensing it, but it's worked out pretty well. The unit was less than $200.

Vcr is definitely shot!!Havent watched a Vhs in ages!
You could buy a DVD/VCR combo to pass your Vhs to DVD....

You can also use one of those VCR-to-transfer services. The big camera chains like Wolff Camera offer that. It'd probably be cheaper than buying a VHS-DVD recorder.

I wanted to move movies across to the DVD recorder as well, and there were still some other VHS tapes around the house that it would be handy to have a player for.

I bought a new 4 head VHS recorder from Future Shop (Best Buy) for $75 CDN not too long ago. Mine was Sony, they are listing a JVC at the same price now.

I thought of a combo machine with VHS/DVD, but the DVD player portion was low-tech, so I skipped it.

Use a transfer service if it is a one time deal. If you ever may want to play another tape, consider picking up a VCR.

I have a Panasonic VCR/DVD-R combo and I use it to convert my VHS to DVD. It does a good job of one touch conversion of VHS.
