Remedial 'Puter File Save Question...

This isn't even 101...I think it's 099 Remedial, but wtf?!

When I save some docs, off net, etc., I am "asked" in the little save box, as to what way I want to "Save As":
-Web Page Complete
-Web Archive...single file
-Web Page HTML
-Text File

Which one do I pick, or does it depend on what I saving to docs?
(Fwiw, I have a 160 sized hard drive with lotsa room left).

Thanks.
BR, Ol'PuterStupid

MD, it really depends upon what it is. If it's a MS Word document, save it using the .doc extension. If a html page, use .htm or .html .... If it's a text file, just use .txt... If a complete web page, you'll need to save the actual web page first (use .htm or .html), then the graphics will need to be saved individually. Saving a entire webpage is rather complex, but I believe there might be some free utilities out there that will do it for you.

If you want to save a web page, I suggest saving it as Web Archive (single file). It is a lot simpler later. The Web Page complete will create one file that appears to be your saved file, but then another folder with addtional files in it, to populate the main page file.

Or just "copy and paste" whatever info you want to save into a Word document, and save as a Word doc. That is often easy and very simple.

Thanks CF & the Doc...
Now I get it. I had been saving stuff in diff "manners". The Web Page complete was my least fave method.

I save a lot of stuff and peruse it later...if I don't I forget where the hell I saw it and never get back to it. My goal, before I take that "last ride", is to be a quasi-"renaissance man", chock full of worthless info and stuff, Lol!
Thanks, Men.

CF: Not seen, yet. It requires a trip to Asheville...as it gets closer to decision time for the FLAwRaDuh Joint, I will do some serious looking.

Also trying to nail down a TV for the M Bedroom in FL: the amorie/hutch thing theCEO picked out and had delivered there is Very shallow. Thus, I have to really go small on the screen size or the only other choice thus far, is the Samsung 30" Widescreen SlimFit...the model TX-R3080WH fits; the common model readily avail., TX-R3079WH, does Not. I have only 19" Deep to work with for the bedroom hutch thing.

As for the big TV, I'm thinking 60" is plenty in the main room. The stuff and specs and model #s change by the week, lol! But, the prices keep eroding, too!

I hear ya MD. Recently Circuit City (big chain store, I assume the are down south?) made a major price boo boo on the 60" Sony SXRD. They advertised it for the price of the 50"! So you could of got a 60" SXRD for $4k, still a lot of coin, but it was 20% off MSRP! It got even better; Best Buy, trying to be competitive, lowered their price on the 60" model too! CC finally admitted their ad was a misprint, but not after about a few hundred people on the AVS forum got the 60" model for 20% off

A buddy of mine has that Samsung slimfit. It is not a bad TV, but does have geometry problems, but nothing that you are going to notice when you are watching in bed! Just get something that will llook nice and be attractive in your bedroom. Enjoy

CF: What the hell is a geometry prob, vis a vis the Samsung TV?

I thought Pythagoras was way before TV?! Lol!
BR,md

PS: Yes, we have CC and BB in Asheville and, of course down in Naples aka Let'emEatCake, FL. I too, saw the circ last Sunday with the $4G 60"...I just thought they had all lost their minds with the price erosion.
