apple rarely gives info on their new products. you would have to probably wait until the month just before it comes out(or around there) in order to know...

4G (LTE) networks won't be widely deployed by any major carrier for several years. Don't look for one anytime soon, in my opinion.

I sure hope it comes as a result of losing AT&T as the exclusive carrier. I'd like to see Verizon lure them over with 4G to move that breakup along.

It might be a grass is greener perception I have about Verizon but I can't imagine anything worse than AT&T in terms of network and customer service.

For Example...My caller ID still says Maria Velásquez after 4 months and I've been promised anything from being fixed in a hour, to 24hrs, to a week, two weeks, definitely a month and now possibly 6 months. My problem is I already have business cards and 4 months of using this number for business in a critical startup period.

NEVER GET A RECYCLED NUMBER! If indeed this can't be fixed recycled numbers should be sold at a discount because they are worthless to most users.

I've seen commercials for 4G by Sprint:
Sprint Mobile Broadband with 4G - the country?s first 3G/4G dual mode mobile broadband card

I will absolutely, positively guaranty you that you will NEVER see an iPhone made to work on a WiMax network.

In my opinion, Sprint made a huge blunder by going with WiMax instead of the world standard, LTE. And in the long run, the selection of WiMax handsets (and their costs) are going to be abysmal in comparison to what you will be able to get with LTE.

I don't think that noncom's question was about the 4G network but rather the iPhone 4G or "4th generation" (which I'm guessing will come out in mid-year 2010).

E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
I thought that the rumor was that Verizon will offer a 4G I phone next fall.

No one really knows. Here are the rumors (key word here) for the 4th-gen iPhone:

- AT&T's exclusivity deal with Apple ends in June, 2010
- Apple is testing a new chipset from Qualcomm that would allow the iPhone to work on multiple networks (and not have to build different models for the various networks)
- Which would open the door for Apple to offer the iPhone on both AT&T and Verizon (and T-Mobile, for that matter)
- Apple wants to use OLED screens on the iPhone, which are brighter and more color-rich
- OLED screens eat up batteries; unless battery technology has improved, I doubt we'll see OLED screens

Again, ALL rumors... I keep up with them 'cause I'm an iPhone (and Mac) fan boy. What can I tell 'ya?

A little confusing there. OLEDs are the lowest power consuming displays available because it doesn't need an extra lighting source.
