I don't want to see France win but what you're saying is ridiculous. Henry's offense was just a foul -- there are fouls in almost every game. This was one that the referees missed...

FIFA should be considering extra referees or cameras for the World Cup but that does not mean that they should censure Henry for this action.

Assuming this is not just a homer post, how do you actually see Deutschland getting there...

If they make it out of the first round (no reason why they shouldn't IMHO) then they would most likely play the USA or at worst case scenario, England. If it's the USA they should easily advance but if they're faced with England, it could be tough. The English have something to prove and I have a feeling that 2010 may be it. If they advance to the round of 16, they would most likely face Argentina or Nigeria, (both doable opponents IMHO), but then it gets tough because they would probably have to play Spain or the defending world champs Italy. Spain is considered one of the top contenders to win the WC and the Italians (although an older squad), are always tough. In summary, I don't see them getting past the Semi's.....

Maybe "just a foul" but it caused Ireland a WC berth. The fair thing FIFA should have done was to have a rematch at a neutral field. I don't think extra referees or cameras is the answer as it would just ruin the "jogo bonito".

Yes, it was a foul with big consequences. Still does not make it anything more than a foul. My point was that Henry should not be punished for this foul (which was just a hand ball) after the game. There are far worse fouls, that result in player injuries, that should be punished.

Agree, but I don't think powers1 was saying to punish Henry. If I understood his comments correctly, he was saying that if punishments were in order, it should be to the Ref for not catching a clear handball and not to the player who was just doing his job......

All he's expressing is his distaste in France for getting to the WC the way they did.

The referee publically admitted that he made a mistake,Henry admitted that he pushed the ball with his hand,Henry even admitted that when asked by the irish players if he touched the ball with his hand,he said "yes..but I am not the ref!"
I dont consider this is a foul,in the same way that I didnt consider Maradona´s famous "hand of god" against England!The difference being that Henry´s cheating , put Ireland out of the World cup.In the case of Maradona,that was just a goal that should have been disallowed but didnt have the same affect on the game´s result,since after this Maradona score which is still probably the best goal ever scored.

As Chile1 already said,I never said I wanted Henry to be punished,this is what FiFA want ( an escapegoat) !
Those who are closer to Henry say he is the most honest guy and he was just doing his job!If the referee had asked Henry at the time if he hand- balled,quite a lot of people,like Trapattoni, believe he would have said "yes"!

As far as you saying that "this is one the referee missed",well he admitted he made a mistake,which is very rare and a good reason for FIFA to have considered a re-match!!
With a re-match,I believe France would win and then be in the World cup deservedly.

I am pretty sure T22 is an American. Some of us like to cheer for our own country.
