The goal of speeding in an area where laser is present is to mind the drivers around you, their current speed and keeping adequate distance so the detector can pick up on those being hit in front of you. That's the only preventative measure. I got nailed with the Escort with Laser in MA. I didn't know where it was coming from and with a few cars in front of me, figured it couldn't have been me that just got nailed. If you like the others, go for it. Personally, I love the arrows and the updates that come along with the V1. Unless radar changes drastically over the next few years (outside of K, Ka and Laser), I find all the other detectors a waste. Oh, and I've been driving for 20 years too.
