David Stern you're a complete pushover..

I guess you'll only get suspended for the rest of the season since you didn't actually slap a mag in and pull the trigger..Way to go NBA..unbelievable..This guy should've been suspended for at least 2 seasons without pay..minimum. And if I had it my way he'd be banned from the league forever...

Gilbert Arenas, Javaris Crittenton suspended for rest of season - ESPN

Rodger Goodell suspended Dante Stallworth for only one season, and he killed a guy while driving drunk. Goodell will reinstate him after the Super Bowl.

John Thompson said it best in today's Daily News:

"There's something wrong when it's written in your contract (CBA) that you can't bring a gun to work."

It's laughable that these moron pro athletes think that they are above the law. Not to mention that they have zero common sense.

Krimson..You're right, but i'm not talking about Goodell. That's a whole different story..this is about Arenas and David Stern.

In my opinion citizens should be allowed to have firearms for protection as they see fit, in the workplace or otherwise.

The fact that these two were brandishing them towards each other in an argument is ridiculous and their punishment should be decided by the legal system, not their employer.

Their employer merely enforced the CBA that every player is bound to. If you signed an employment contract that literally forbids bringing guns into the arena, as the NBA CBA does, and you broke that rule, your employer has every right to discipline you.

Agree that the punishment by the NBA is pretty light, although keep in mind that Arenas will also be disciplined separately in criminal court. I think he pleaded Guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

Just to play devil's advocate, the NBA punishment is a question of supply and demand. If you're a truck driver or even an attorney, you can be replaced easier than a premier NBA player. There are what, tens of thousands of lawyers in this country? So if an attorney openly and threateningly brandishes a weapon at his firm, he/she is done. See ya! Now let's switch industries: How many basketball athletes in the world have the skill level of a Gilbert Arenas? Several dozen perhaps. 40? 50 tops. Low supply + high demand = higher tolerance for unacceptable behaviour in the workplace.

Correct, an employment contract is an employment contract, and they should have to abide by it's terms or face discipline.

However, I believe that banning guns is unconstitutional and that employers do not have that right to begin with.
