US Unemployment Map...
to 2009. I didn't research it/vet it, so it may be exaggerated, but I would think all of us have felt some impact and/or know people whom have be affected by the rising "under" and unemployment conditions. I am very glad not to have to be seeking a job; no one would hire me for anything, anyway.  Good Luck to all of you seeking a job out there; it's fookin ugly I realize. GL,mD multimediafinal

On the other hand there is reason for optimisim.
Feds approve $171M loan for San Francisco transit hub. And so it begins... Thousands of jobs in construction, and thousands more for the system. Add to that a high-speed rail system for California. Which will employ another 140,000 when the project is finish.

Southern and Central VA have been hit hard compared to Northern VA. Here in my town, not only are there beggars at intersections asking for money, but also many decent looking folks holding up signs that say "I WANT A JOB" or "LOOKING FOR EMPLOYMENT". Also a lot of telephone poles and bulletin boards have adverts of individuals seeking employment. It's tough.
