I haven't seen the show but it's nice to hear about a fair portrayal of the breed. For every "bad" or "vicious" power breed dog like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, GSDs, etc, there are countless more that are well balanced dogs. We are looking forward to getting our dog therapy certified so he can go out and be an ambassador for Rottweilers. He's already gotten his AKC Canine Good Citizen and passed his temperament testing, plus he's just a lover of people - unless they are wearing a bite sleeve.

What a cutie! There are probably a top ten cutest puppies in the world and Golden Retrievers are definitely on that list. We've had a few of them along the way and they are great dogs. It's nice to hear that you'll have her out doing what she's bred to do. That's one of the reasons we work our Rottweiler. The bite work is not really even aggression. It's just drive for him. When he's done biting, he over wagging his rear end and rubbing up on everyone. I love seeing dogs doing what they are inately programmed to do, whether it's working in protection and obedience or swimming after birds.

And since you brought it up, both his dogs are therapy dogs. He insists on training for his rescues and the people. Then, a contractual agreement binds the adopter to weekly contact and a 2 yr probationary period. I guess on one episode, he reclaimed a dog that was tied out.

What an adorable pup!! If only they stayed that way!

she is FULL of life. very strong will and very focused. i like that when i train a hunting dog because it gives you something to work against. i feel that it just makes training easier than trying to tell a mush what to do.

This is "Mia" she is a pit bull/american bull dog mix, eleven years old. She had both ACL"s repaired at about 50K miles, $1,500 a pop. Worth every penny runs like new....Best dog ever!!!
and yes that is snow on the beach.

Absolutely! It is much easier to focus drive than to create it. We're lucky we have outlets to channel our boy's drive, otherwise life would be very interesting around the house with a dog that has strong drive from working lines and nothing to do.

Awesome dog! Our helper for protection is a HUGE American Bulldog guy. That's his breed so he's always talking them up and, jokingly, making fun of Rottweilers. He was even baiting a Malinois last time, calling it a coyote. Here are some American Bulldog shots from our training group. We are mostly Rottweiler owners but we have the odd GSD, Malinois, and American Bulldog show up.
