Luckily, in MD, and the rest of the US for that matter, cars are shod with tires, not tyres, so the law has no bearing in this situation.

It's a good thing you don't drive a Russian car, it takes a lot more effort to fake being Russian than European.

So far, so good with the dish. The wind is keeping the snow off of it.

I have no idea how much snow accumulation we have. Somewhere around 2 feet at this point. The wind is blowing so much that I can see the grass in some spots and 5 foot drifts in others. And the snow is still coming down!

Seems like "paralyzing" is a correct term.

Oh man.....is it at least a light, fluffy snow, or is it heavy?

At least you haven't lost power

Is it supposed to wrap up this afternoon?

Very wet and heavy snow. I got the greatest workout of my life walking from my house to the barn this morning in the waist-deep snow.

The Blizzard Warning is in effect until 10pm tonight. So hopefully it will all be done in the next 12 hours.

This is a tremendously difficult storm to shovel. Last month, the snow was powdery and it was all snow.

This time, it started out as a heavy, wet snow that accumulated on trees, bushes, and powerlines. Here in central VA, it switched over to a period of heavy sleet last evening, before switching back to a drier, powdery snow overnight that accumulated rapidly as temperatures dropped. The result is when you're shovelling, the top layer is easy but the bottom 2-3" (approx 5-6cm) is frozen solid and difficult to chip away at. This will break your back, and give those in less-than-great shape a good workout.

A tree fell on street leading to our driveway but the community plow took a handsaw and cut it away so the road is passable. Pretty much everyone's bushes are warped out of shape now.

Talked to my knucklehead Kidz up in SouthJoisey...
they have about 20+ ", and it's still coming down.
They report it is not too wet there, but really swirling
and blowing. Gee, I miss snow.

Thats why we go out every hour or two with the snowblower. And we still break a ton of shear pins. Just make sure you don't die or anything... Its called heart attack snow for a reason.

And trees down is easy. Fire up the chainsaw!

Snow plows on tractors. And when I say tractors, I don't mean lawn mowers.
