EMail/ISP Question, Long+++

I have high speed wireless through my local ISP provider down in our little town. Works well. My email address is part of that local ISP provider; works well.

We are migrating in Dec to FL; I expect to plug into Comcast's cable/internet system.

Is there any way to "link" my current email address to my seasonal Comcast hookup so all the email I currently get, (and want), just "shoots" to my FL email?

I have been able to check my current email from the road, but my local mtn ISP/wireless deal offers "text only", is Very slow and not handy.

I'm trying to avoid having to "change" my winter seasonl email address for the dozens of senders I receive (and want), and the dozens of friends/fams, regs I email to&fro, and of course, all the freaking sites I visit.

If these questions aren't clear, it's because I'm a non-tech idiot,

MD, the easiest thing to do is to have the guy put an automatic forward on your e-mail address (he has the ability to do that). Give him a call and just tell him when you want it setup. Of course you will need the Comcast account setup in the FL joint before you go ahead and do that

By the way, there was a very reputable person on the AVS forum that said the SXRD was one of the best he has ever seen. You gonna get one man?!

MD - my suggestion for you is to set up an account on a free email service such as Yahoo or GMail (Google) and use that as your email "gateway". This is then independent of the ISP service that you are using. As Chris suggests, have your ISP forward all of your email to the Yahoo or GMail account.

Using this method, you can check your email from wherever you are, whenever you like.

David - If your current ISP offer POP or IMAP4 email, then you can setup Outlook to check for mail at both your current ISP and your new ISP. This way, you don't have to change any email addresses. You should be able to check mail and send mail from appropriate email account.

-Uncle Tito, I can currently check and read mail via my current IPS, from a remote loc.: the prob. is that it's text only, horribly formatted, very slow, etc.

md - it sounds like you are more than halfway there since you already have the yahoo mail accounts setup.

Just have your ISP there in hillybilly heaven forward all of your mail to your yahoo account and you will be able to do everything from there (both send and receive).

I would be more inclined to use an independent email system then what the ISP offers. ISP’s come and go and people move, if you use say Yahoo, no matter where you go, you email address follows. If I were in your shoes, I would convert to Yahoo and leave it at that. Nothing says the conversion would happen overnight, but tell everyone your new email address and when you respond to any messages, make sure the return address is your Yahoo. After sometime you won’t be receiving any in your old email accounts.

Ianbrown: I don't think my ISP provider is "going anywhere": he's had his biz here in our little town for a decade and has most of the downtown's merchant wireless biz wrapped up.

I was just trying to avoid the mass mailing notification to all of our friends and also trying to dodge the "log in" needed on the various sites I glom on and subscribe to...thought I might be able to link it.

I will fiddle with it more carefully as the migration date draws closer.
