I will take a pic of the Dell Inspiron 8500 (15.4" screen, 7lbs) and Sony VGN-TX670P side-by-side. Basically, I can put the Sony on the top of the Dell laptop and and it only occupies 2/3 of the space. Quote:

Doc... did you research any tablet PC's before getting this? looking into getting a tablet for work since it would be a lot more convenient... What do you guys think. Thinking of the Fujitsu's but I heard the battery life is horrible.

Kewl: That looks like a nice machine. I think it is a good idea you bought the warranty. I don't want to be a party pooper but I have not heard good things about the Vaio's. My sister, for one, had a very expensive Vaio laptop that was nothing but trouble for her. From a bad HD to a bad motherboard, it was all grief. It spent more time in the shop than with her.
I hope your experience is better. She got hers a couple of years ago so hopefully Sony's engineering and QC has gotten better.

Yes, only recently Sony's scores for notebook computers has been great. In fact, Sony's are rated much higher than Dell. Dell has been taking a beating. Hopefully my Sony will fair well, but again, it is for occasional travel use. I still have my powerhouse Dell laptop and Dell desktop and of course my work's PC.
Thanks for the heads up....I did get the extra 3 year warranty nevertheless. Quote:

Yes, that is my next PC for early next year. Our clinic is testing out some tablet PCs for docs. Lots of pharm reps are using Tablet PCs. I have seen Toshiba (weights like a brick) to Fujitsu and E-motion. However, the most impressive one that I have seen to date is the new IBM X41 series (yes it is the Loveno one), but it was a decent weight and great screen the pharm reps have had no problems with it. I'll let you know what our MIS department decides on....but check out the IBM X41-X45 series.

sounds good... too many meetings and my latitude at work is one sorry machine.. couple of coworkers have the fujitsu's and another with the IBM.. The IBM is pretty fragile though as compared to the Fujitsu which is built much better.. I'll see.

Just spoke with our MIS department and they are looking at E-motion computing....don't know why or the specifics, but I'll try to find out. Maybe cost, maybe durability, maybe better contract, etc....
