It's not my fault that Ferrari need an extra 4 cylinders to achieve less HP than a Vette.

Time for a fact check!

The Chevrolet has higher displacement than the Ferrari AND a supercharger and still makes LESS hp than the 599 GTO.

Ferrari 599 GTO:
6.0L V-12, NA
670hp - 3,538 lbs
5.28 lb/hp
208mph top speed

Corvette ZR-1:
6.2L V-8, supercharged
638hp - 3,340 lbs
5.23 lb/hp
205mph top speed

Factor in the weight of the fat Corvette driver and you have an easy win for the Ferrari.

NEXT

PS - got to ride in a 599 HGTE yesterday - Corvettes are happy meal toys in comparison.

You are correct with the different weight and HP numbers, different web sites have different specs listed for the Ferrari.

That being said, a ZR-1 still laps the Ring faster, and costs $121k as opposed to $460k for the F-car. ZR-1 7:26 599GTO 7:47

I'll take the ZR-1 and buy a couple of used Ferrari's as daily drivers thank you very much

(I'm both a Vette and Ferrari fan btw )

You are quoting the time for a 599 GTB

There are no 'ring times for the GTO yet - that is like quoting 335 lap times for the new M3 Competition package.

The GTB is a grand tourer, not a full out sports car like the Corvette. The HGTE package bridges the gap a bit with improved brakes and suspension.

But the GTO is a whole different animal. I wouldn't be surprised if it was right there with the ZR-1 or even faster once they find someone to drive it flat out.

I am really not having a good day with specs today....

That being said, the Enzo is the only Ferrari to lap the ring faster than the ZR-1 and that I am positive of.

Man, that does look like a Vette, but better though, imo.

There aren't too many different ways to package a 2-seat FR sports car...

Agreed, but this is almost copyright infringement. Well, from the profile at least. Many people here thought Vette when they saw this thread. I know I did before I even scrolled down. It looks good though, just a little too Vette-like for a Ferrari, imo.

ok I was going to go easy on you guys... but copyright infringement??

The two cars look nothing alike other than being 2-seat front-engined sports cars of similar dimensions. The only reason people think of Corvettes when they see these is because the Vette is the closest thing in their mind to relate it to.

Physics and aerodynamics dictate the basic package, but beyond that...
