I'm only a distant observer of US politics but I though that this speech/talk was strange.

A man under pressure who promised (both wittingly and unwittingly) more than he could ever give?

It is a slap against what has been referred to here on this forum as the American Idol generation of news sound bytes, vs real journalism. I work with technology, and I don't feel at all threatened by his comments. I think he is advising a group of young grads (some of whom were probably texting while he was talking, listening to iPods, etc) that democracy is important, that they should participate, and that they should take up their responsibility as citizens. That's it.

Personally, I would have balanced the Apple references with PC references, and the iPhone references with Android references, but really, he seems to just have been referring to some very successful products, those that have name recognition.
Exactly how i interpreted...this thread proves the fact that if 10 people hear the exact same thing, there will be 10 different take-aways.

The more you blindly follow and defend everything that Obama says and does the more your credibility is destroyed. I think you've finally gotten your point across, it's a waste of time to discuss anything Obama related with you.

That depends, are you an Obama supporter?

Depends on what exactly? Support of Obama? IMO support or not shouldn't have anything to do with my personal take-away on this particular matter...This isn't policy he's commenting on. I support him no more than i critisize him. FWIW i'm as neutral as they come and not polarized by politics nor media.

I believe that if Obama commented on a pair of Jimmy Choo's...impressions, interpretations and take-away's would absolutely be influenced by Joe-public's support or lack thereof...regardless of his actual point.

The more you attack and try to destroy everything Obama says and does the more your credibility is destroyed.
I already knew what your point was and I agree "it's a waste of time to discuss anything Obama related with you".

Funny how the saw cuts both ways isn't it..........
It ain't fair but that's life. So get over it already.

I'm just surprised this post wasn't moved to the politics board long ago. Oh wait, maybe the mods all took Obama's advice and stopped paying attention to these entertainment distractions....
