Top Gear's "The Stig" revealed!

Guess they will be replacing him now.

The BBC has lost a legal fight to stop publication of a book which reveals the identity of Top Gear's driver The Stig. The High Court in London refused to grant the BBC an injunction blocking the publication by HarperCollins of an autobiography of former Formula Three driver Ben Collins. The book, called The Man In The White Suit, claims Mr Collins is the mystery driver on the BBC Two show.

BBC News - Has the identity Top Gear's 'The Stig' finally been revealed?

Ha! They actually tried blocking a book from being printed/released because it took a little piece of "mystery" from a show of theirs?

Not that it bothers me a whole lot but I think it was fun not to know who the Stig was. Of course, he's the second Stig (the black-suited one was killed off in Series 3, IIRC). I'm surprised the BBC didn't have a more iron-clad contract with the "white" Stig.

Here is a recent interview with the original Stig.

BBC News - Perry McCarthy: 'I was the original Stig'

I expect we'll see a new Stig in the next series. Any guesses for suit color? I'm guessing royal blue.

Eh, but it was already the second stig... now we'll be on to the third. I'm sure the writers will give him the same mystique this one had, classical music while racing and all.

I agree, i think there will be a new Stig in the next series. Wonder how they'll kill him off? They've already done the aircraft carrier thing.

I wonder why he didn't wait till his contract was up to go about revealing his identity? Seems to me he is writing his ticket off the show for the payday of releasing a book. Maybe he'd had enough.

My vote is "will it blend?" with lots of blood'n'guts using that V8 Clarkson had in the studio to power ordinary household tasks a few series ago

haha! maybe they can rock him to death like they did with the mannequin taking the place of the old lay. that was hilarious.

I see it as something to do with a stunt that goes wrong.

I see it going that way as well.

Another possibility would be having James May beat him in some sort of race where the Stig then immediately drives what ever car he is in right off the track and away into the distance while throwing his helmit and racing gear out the window. Everyone could be just standing around watching in disbelief.
