I have the Linksys G router with "speed booster", and get 54 Mbps routinely. I got it to replace a 802.11b router that was just too slow anymore. I considered getting the SRX, but couldn't justify the nearly triple price. I figure another year or two we will have N spec'ed routers out, and by then I will replace my laptop.

If you want ultimate coverage, get a decent router, then plant several re-trasmitter around the property. That's what I do. I can get at 4/5 signal even in the underground garage of the building!

As a MCSE and A Network Engineer, with 10 years of network experience. You can't do much better than the WRT54GX. It' s kick ass fast.

Unless you have VoIP in your house. QoS (802.11E) is broken on every one of those new SRX models except the v1 that came out a while a go. I just tried the new SRX400 and QoS is still broken. VoIP lines just get a fast busy signal when trying to dial. Linksys is aware,, and still released it broken. That one is going back and have the new Netgear RangeMax 240 on order. Even with legacy B/G equipment you get much better range with the MIMO technology, just not the speed unless you pair it with one of the vendor specific cards.
