Umptyseventh BigTV Question(s)...
http://www2.butterflyphoto.com/shop/...sku=KDSR60XBR1 -Anyone ever deal with them? -I realize shipping is about 3 bens...timing it to arrive at our Seasonal Starter Joint After we get there but not too late is troublesome. -Is the $600 to $900 buck extra warranty all the selling sites hump, really necessary? (Fwiw, I've Never had a bad TV of any kind, brand or method of electron shooting.)a We are finally signed up with Comcast (aka Complicated&UnCaringCAST) for HDTV, digi TV (whatever that means), DPVR, etc. They suggest the TV "be there" when we the cableguy shows up to do his stuff. -What kinda cables to I need to buy? Any other tips? Man, this brand new "2nd house" thing is driving me nuts. Thanks & BR, md Ol'&[email protected]

My .02:
I bought the extended warranty on one TV and it actually helped when the TV died unexpectedly (do you ever expect a TV to die ). Anyway, other than that one time, I usually bypass because when/if it does fail there will probably be something else that I'd want to get . As for Comcast, they supply the HD cables necessary to connect the box to the TV. The cables seem to be of pretty good quality.

i'm a big fan of Projectors.
the same price u paid for a 60" screen, u can have a 90+" screen just as clear. wiring wise, a lot depends on ur system. are u running everything thru a stereo receiver?

Check with Comcast for the output specs on the box but it will be either DVI or HDMI. The SXRD is HDMI so you will either need a DVI/HDMI cable or just a straight HDMI cable. If the Comcast box is DVI you will need RCA audio cables.
Does Comcast offer a cable card in your area? If so then you won't need any cables unless you're setting up a HT as well. If you're hooking in a HT system then all of the cabling might be a little more complicated.

-Eric: I'm inclined to pass on the high margin, post warr. "warranty", too.
-broknlgs: this TV is going in a family/living room; a 90 incher would be fine for a bowling alley length room, lol! -Rob_: I freaking read you...I am Very tired of "winter" after 58 of 'em. -Rayxi: v.good info, as your usual: I'm gonna check on Com's connections...I already asked about CableCards: they do offer them but theirs do Not allow for the on screen TV guide via the PVR system, so I'm sticking with their "Box". And, their "info" people are really a bunch of gum snapping, fingernail checking out clerks, imo. This Comcast fiasco, (a near Entire day on the fooking net and phone trying to nail down the options), has been one of the most unpleasant experiences of my consumer life. I came really close to telling them to get F'd and calling DISH which I have been very happy with. NEway, rant over. Thanks, Maties.
