We didn't see it ( it's raining) but it was the biggest Moon in 20 years.
The moon was at perigee, its closest point to Earth – only 221,565 miles away.
The last time the full moon coincided with an extreme perigee was March 8, 1993.

We looked; to my eyeball, it was simply very, very bright upon rising, but it seems like I've seen 'bigger', probably at the horizon enlargement situ...it was fabulous early this morning on my daily walk, as it was slowly setting in the west. It may hang around in the sky for quite some time today.

Nice pic T/R!

Thanks MD. It was like shooting a light bulb at night. I forget how difficult it is to shoot that damn rock

T/R, I agree...if I had not read about the 'super moon', I would not have noticed it being any diff last night, other than its brightness after rising: it was almost difficult to look at it was so damn bright.

Don't have that length lens, so I've given up trying to shoot it.

Shopping for a super wide, maybe 10-22 and sumpin' else for my 40D.
Hard to choose.

I have the 17-40L. It's a great lens.

If you're looking for something in the 70-200F4L range, I have one that I never use because I upgraded to the 2.8IS, if you want it, we can make a deal.

I knew you were gonna mention the 17-40L, just to drive me crazy...
that's on my short list also, along with the 10-22, and maybe the 50 1.4.

That 70-200 L is interesting, but I rarely feel a need for that kind of
reach, even on my crop 40D.

We are doing a long trip this summer and I need some lenses.

The problem is justifying the dough...
TheCEO says 'get a lens you want'; I want 2 or 3.

But, this trip could be that 'last long ride', so I am tempted to
spend the $.
