Go Canucks Go!

The Canucks beat Nashville in Game 6 to move on the Western Conference Finals against the winner of San Jose/Detroit. It's only the third time they've gotten this far in the 40 year franchise history.

Canucks fans are the best!

I figured you were watching! The Canucks do like to get there the hard way, taking Chicago to Game 7 and then adding another game in this series after they won 3 and Nashville faced elimination.

17 years since we were in the Western Conference finals. The next series should be very different than both the Chicago games (lots of history and psychology) and the Nashville games (low-scoring, no room to make plays unless you are Kesler). San Jose or Detroit, either would be fine. I hope Detroit wins tomorrow and pushes it to seven games, just to give the Canucks a few days of rest.

Go Canucks!

PS: lol at your thread title. A local car dealer put that phrase on their showroom windows last week. The NHL notified them that they had trademarked the phrase Go Canucks Go and it had to be taken down. At least the league has quit trying to shut down our Green Men. They've celebrated Vince Vaughn and Carrie Underwood, don't know who will be next.

Well that was a great game. Canucks were up 2-1 in the series over San Jose. Game four was in San Jose, with somewhere around 4000 Canucks fans in the Shark Tank, according to media estimates. We have a long weekend here, and with the high price of playoff tickets locally fans can fly to San Jose and pay for a ticket for close to the same cost as one ticket here.

Canucks killed five power plays to start off. Then the refs decided to call the other team for awhile. Canucks got three goals in 1:55, all on 5 on 3 power plays. New record.

McGinn had taken out two Canucks players in game three (Rome and Ehrhoff); neither played Game four due to those hits.

The clip is Keith Ballard demonstrating the art of the hip check, on McGinn. Completely legal play. And fun to watch.

What a Game 4! The Canucks are pretty awesome to watch and there was not just a big, classic hip check as shown above, but an unreal pass from Henrik Sedin. It's pure magic! Watch the slow motion replay. Magic! If you don't like hockey then there is something seriously wrong with you!

The Canucks are on a tear and with the Sedin twins and burrow firing on all cylinders, Luongo playing very solidly, and the defense chipping in, appear unstoppable. If Kesler gets hot with scoring again then there might just be a parade down Robson Street. (He's been hot in all other aspects of play in this series, just not racking up points.)

GO CANUCKS GO!!!

BRING ON THE STANLEY CUP!

What an incredible run for the Canucks. The Sedin twins are coming on something fierce and at no better time. Luongo is incredible, making 54 saves last night. They look to be the clear favorite to win it all.

The winning goal in double overtime was a bit strange to say the least but memorable for sure. A great play to keep the puck in and a crazy bounce; you can see that all the other players are looking the wrong way, away from the puck. I thought it had gone up into the netting behind the goal too.

Congratulations to the Canucks for winning the conference championship but on to the real trophy. Congratulations to the City of Vancouver, a city so passionate about its hockey team and so hungry for Cup glory. I don't think there is a better hockey city, Detroit and Toronto be damned.

Two good home games for the Canucks in the Stanley Cup Final series. They are now two games up on Boston, 1-0 and 3-2. In this game Alex Burrows scores the first goal, gets an assist on the second, and then scores 11 seconds into overtime. Lots of jokes about whether or not Boston can bite back after the furor over whether or not Burrows bit Bergeron in a scrum in Game 1. Well, at least Tim Thomas bit (on Burrow's fake, in this case).

On to Boston!

GO CANUCKS GO!!!

Another exciting game! Of course I am ecstatic about the outcome. The scores of both games are a bit deceiving. It looks like, and the Boston Bruins/Boston media/fans like to emphasize this, that Boston was in it neck and neck with the Canucks but I don't think so. Except for one period out of the two games, Vancouver has had control. If not for Tim Thomas the scores would be much tilted in Vancouver's favor. Luongo has been solid and has made some good saves but there hasn't been anything too crazy for him to stop. He's seeing the puck and the D in front are helping out.

That OT goal by Burrows was unbelievable. 11 seconds into OT??? Great plays by Edler and Sedin and an even better play by Burrows. Thomas got bitten by his own so-called "battlefly" style and Chara (all 6' 9" of him) was totally ineffective on that play and in general. He's been terrible - useless in front as a screen, is getting pounded by every Canuck who has a chance to hit him, and has turned over more pucks than any other Bruin.

I have read and heard a bit about how crazy Vancouver is right now as a city. 70,000 people downtown to enjoy the game in bars and watching outdoor screens? It's a big party. Heck, I know Canuck fever has hit when my mom, who NEVER watches sports much less hockey, has the TV turned on at 5:00 for the game, dinner prepped for cooking, and uses the intermissions to cook. She watched the whole game and was very excited about it when I talked to her after the game.

What do you think of Maxim Lapierre's "bite my finger" taunt? I think it was hilarious!

Funny thing is at the end of the 3rd period I told my wife (who's rooting for Boston) that the Canucks will score within 2 minutes into overtime. LOL, it wasn't even close.

Electronic Arts, who's been right 13 out 14, predicted Vancouver in 7 in their simulations. I think they'll do it in 5. I'm no Canucks fan but it would be nice to see the cup back in Canada.

There was a lot of focus on the bite, from media and from fans.

Yes, The Cup must be returned to Canada. I'm not into the whole "Canada's Team" thing but I do think that Canadian hockey fans should support whichever Canadian team is vying for The Cup. I would even support Calgary or Edmonton if they ever got the finals. (I think I'm safe for a looooong time. )

I'd risk losing my hockey-caused implant/crowns biting on that.
